BIM Technician
About the role
The Amazon OpsTech Design Execution (ODX) team is seeking a BIM Technician to support the development and delivery of telecommunications and Low Voltage Systems designs across Amazon’s global fulfillment network. The successful candidate will join a collaborative global design team responsible for developing high-quality, Revit-based design documentation and models for telecom infrastructure projects.
About the Team
The ODX team focuses on telecoms design optimization, standardization, and vendor coordination for Amazon’s global operations network. We deliver telecom infrastructure designs — including cable routing, pathways, telecommunications rooms, and device placement — for new site launches, retrofits, and colocation projects across NA, EMEA, and APAC.
Responsibilities
- Create, modify, and maintain detailed 3D Revit models for telecommunications and Low Voltage infrastructure projects.
- Develop accurate 2D drawings, construction documentation, schedules, and quantity take-offs from Revit models and AutoCAD files.
- Develop and maintain Revit families, project templates, standard details, schedules, and other design content used to support telecom design.
- Interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and telecom documentation and incorporate design requirements into BIM models and drawings.
- Coordinate telecommunications infrastructure with other building systems and disciplines within a BIM environment.
- Develop and document surveillance and CCTV system layouts, including device placement and associated pathways, cabling, and infrastructure, in coordination with other building systems.
- Perform model and drawing quality reviews, identify coordination issues, and support resolution of design conflicts.
- Participate in BIM coordination and design review meetings and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver project requirements.
- Utilize Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM 360, and other Autodesk tools to support model coordination, document management, and project collaboration.
- Utilize Dynamo, scripting, and other automation tools to improve design efficiency and reduce repetitive production tasks.
- Support the development and implementation of telecom design standards, BIM standards, best practices, and documentation requirements for Amazon Fulfillment.
- Manage multiple assignments and priorities while meeting project schedules and contributing to continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Learn and apply Amazon-specific telecommunications design standards, workflows, templates, and processes.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience in BIM, design, drafting, engineering, construction, or a related technical field, with demonstrated proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
- Experience managing multiple assignments, priorities, and deliverables while meeting established project schedules.
- Experience creating, modifying, and documenting 3D models using Autodesk Revit.
- Experience producing accurate 2D drawings and documentation using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Experience working with Revit families, views, sheets, schedules, templates, and project content.
- Experience interpreting architectural, engineering, or construction drawings and incorporating design requirements into BIM models and documentation.
- Experience working in a collaborative, multi-discipline design or BIM environment.
- Ability to learn and apply technical standards, design requirements, and established processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in telecommunications, Low Voltage systems, structured cabling, or related infrastructure design or construction.
- Experience with telecommunications infrastructure such as pathways, cable tray, telecommunications rooms, structured cabling, fiber optic systems, wireless infrastructure, or related systems.
- Experience with Dynamo, Python, or other scripting and automation tools used to improve Revit workflows and design productivity.
- Experience developing or maintaining Revit families, templates, standard details, and content libraries.
- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM 360, or similar document and model collaboration platforms.
- Familiarity with TIA, NEC, BICSI, or other telecommunications and Low Voltage industry standards.
- Experience performing BIM coordination, clash detection, or model quality control.
- Experience working with large-scale commercial, industrial, warehouse, fulfillment, data center, or other complex facilities.
- Experience supporting design standardization, process improvement, or development of BIM workflows.
