BIM Estimator

About the role

The BIM Estimator plays a crucial role in Rosendin's corporate BIM Modeling and Coordination efforts. They prepare estimates by reviewing current BIM production rates, bid specifications, drawings, and BIM requirements documents. Key responsibilities include developing BIM estimates, updating scopes, incorporating prefab and subcontract work, and providing preliminary estimates for review.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications along with schedules, drawings, and BIM execution plans to determine the scope of Modeling and Coordination.
• Prepare BIM estimates by inputting construction estimate takeoff quantities into custom BIM estimating worksheets and software.
• Update scope inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications on the BIM Estimate proposal.
• Incorporate prefab scope and subcontract work into BIM estimate as requested.
• Provide the BIM Manager with a preliminary BIM estimate for review.
• Issue formal BIM estimate to the construction group after recommended changes are applied.
• Participate in BIM Start-up meetings as required to explain the estimate.
• Maintain files of working documents in a shared location as backup for estimates.
• Prepare all change orders, revisions, and scope breakout pricing associated with Modeling and Coordination on the project.
• Avoid delays by ensuring the estimate is produced before the specified due date and competitively priced.
• Utilize estimating dashboard to review actual modeling production rates and update estimating rates periodically.
• Maintain agenda for weekly BIM estimating meetings.
• Track cost of BIM estimating work being performed and transferred to projects or divisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience estimating commercial construction projects.
• Electrical construction and/or BIM estimating experience preferred.
• Relevant experience in Accubid and Enterprise software.
• Familiarity with VDC software a plus.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of assigned discipline, construction technology, and estimating techniques.
• Read and interpret construction design drawings and contract documents.
• Solve practical problems using a variety of specific variables in situations where limited standardization may exist or require variance.
• Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.), with advanced knowledge of Excel; Oracle preferred, PowerBi or Sharepoint a plus.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
• Work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
• Oral and written communication skills as required for the position.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
• Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.

Pay

Competitive compensation package including salary, bonuses, and benefits.

Schedule

Full-time position with occasional travel up to 10%. Working conditions include sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending, and exposure to varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is usually low to medium. Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
