About the Role

The BIM/CAD Operator is responsible for creating and modifying elements within a virtual environment using industry-specific software applications, with a focus on electrical systems in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Model electrical systems based on markup drawings and/or verbal direction provided by electrical detailers.
  • Set up Revit views and sheets in preparation for shop drawings.
  • Annotate and dimension shop drawings for field installation.
  • Utilize Bluebeam Revu software to markup PDF drawings and communicate with team members.
  • Prepare copies and help make sets of documents for transmittal to other parties.
  • Download drawings and information from the Web, SharePoint, or project websites (FTP, BIM360, etc.).
  • Check own work for accuracy before passing on to others.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • A working knowledge of computer-aided drafting and software applications, typically acquired through an associate’s degree in computer-aided design and drafting or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years’ experience in the electrical construction industry, with knowledge of electrical symbols and electrical drafting conventions and standards.
  • Required to maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Minimal travel (up to 10%).

Skills

  • Experience in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Trimble, and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Ability to take verbal and general written direction and turn it into appropriate, working shop drawings.
  • Ability to manipulate Revit families, views, browser structure, sheets, schedules, filters, and similar Revit functions.
  • Fluency in 2D and 3D space, including understanding of 3D coordination with other trades.
  • Ability to receive and transmit documents on behalf of the design team.
  • Fluency with plotters, printers, and reproduction systems used in-house or on the job site.
  • Fluency in importing documents, such as spreadsheets, photos, images, and word processing files into Revit projects.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
  • Excellent human relations skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in creating simple parametric families, utilizing shared parameters, creating schedules, and creating complex geometry (preferred).

Pay

$30 - $36 per hour.
