Responsibilities
- Create billing schedules and various other billing analyses as required
- Maintain a portfolio of billing attorneys
- Review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests
- Process write-offs following Firm policy
- Handle a high volume of complex bills in a timely manner
- Effectively interact and communicate with attorneys, secretaries, and clients
- Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required
- Research and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues and problems
- Work with applications team to create and implement new billing formats
- Create and distribute monthly reports
- Adhere to Firm billing policies
- Utilize computerized accounting and payables software programs (CMS, Excel, Word) to perform duties and responsibilities
- Absolutely ensure strict confidentiality at all times
- Assist with special projects, other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- College level accounting classes or Accounting Degree, or equivalent work experience
- 1-3 or more years hands-on billing experience in a law firm
- CMS, Elite, Javelan (or equivalent accounting software) experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Ability to organize work flow and use time efficiently
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to perform at high levels in a dynamic ever-changing work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands
- Flexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours; possibly work weekends or evenings
