About the role
The AR Specialist II is responsible for managing the accounts receivable (AR) process within the revenue cycle. This role involves reviewing, processing, and following up on outstanding claims and payments to ensure timely reimbursement from insurance companies, consumers, and other third parties. The AR Specialist II works closely with various internal teams, including billing, coding, and clinical departments, to resolve discrepancies, address denials, and ensure compliance with regulations. The Accounts Receivable Specialist is accountable for daily operational tasks associated with revenue cycle accounts receivable, follow-up, and timely management of requests from consumers, insurance payers (primary, secondary, and tertiary), and clearinghouses. This role prepares all appeals and resolves upfront edits and denials, routinely monitors and processes monthly write-offs, charge corrections, and reconciliation of claim files for the assigned area of responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Manage the accounts receivable process within the revenue cycle.
- Review, process, and follow up on outstanding claims and payments.
- Ensure timely reimbursement from insurance companies, consumers, and third parties.
- Collaborate with billing, coding, and clinical departments to resolve discrepancies and address denials.
- Handle daily operational tasks related to revenue cycle accounts receivable.
- Follow up on requests from consumers, primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance payers, and clearinghouses.
- Prepare appeals and resolve upfront edits and denials.
- Monitor and process monthly write-offs, charge corrections, and reconciliation of claim files.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of Revenue Cycle Management experience.
- Experience in billing, accounts receivable (A/R), or accounts payable (A/P).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
