About the role

The Billing Associate ensures timely and compliant billing of customer orders to federal, state, commercial insurance plans, and private payers. This role focuses on minimizing bad debt, improving cash flow, and collaborating with Revenue Cycle Leadership and Customer Support to streamline billing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Enter critical data into the Patient Management Billings System (Bonafide) to secure proper reimbursement from funding sources.
  • Communicate billing delays to relevant teams to drive process improvements and faster claims processing.
  • Resolve client billing issues and answer questions about claims and invoices.
  • Maintain current insurance billings within departmental timeframes and policies.
  • Review and complete daily/weekly reports to meet billing goals.
  • Assist in developing cross-functional training materials when requested.
  • Advise on qualifying receivables as refunds, adjustments, or write-offs.
  • Adhere to confidentiality policies, ensuring patient information is shared only on a need-to-know basis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (Bachelor’s degree preferred or six years of equivalent experience).
  • Five years of experience in medical billing.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state healthcare policies and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Bonafide billing system.
  • Experience with Salesforce.

Work Environment

  • Indoor open office or remote setting with minimal noise typical of an office.
  • Extended hours as needed.
  • Drug-free workplace; post-offer employment testing required.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent repetitive motions (e.g., keyboard and mouse usage).
  • Prolonged stationary positions (standing or sitting).
  • Frequent computer, phone, and business machine use.
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Travel

Minimal domestic travel, approximately 5% of the time.
