Billing Assistant
POSTION SUMMARY
The billing assistant is responsible for assisting in the billing process. This includes generating invoices, verifying billing information, resolving any discrepancies, and ensuring timely payment from clients. They are also responsible for maintaining billing records, communicating with clients regarding billing inquiries, and assisting with financial reporting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Identify aging A/R balances for follow up; prepare follow up correspondence.
- Prepare Reminder Statements to attorneys and mail to clients as requested.
- Assist with collections process.
- Aid Billing Coordinators with the creation and distribution of draft invoices for partners and secretaries.
- Process narrative changes and other billing adjustments for draft invoices.
- Act as overflow for auditing and posting invoices as needed.
- Maintain Alt Fee Report and add new client matters on a daily basis.
- Enter and/or update client rate and discount overrides for new clients as matters are opened and as identified during the monthly billing process.
- Monitor Fixed Fee report and bring matters over fee cap to Billing Managers attention.
- Create monthly billing reports.
- Manage monthly scanning of invoice packets.
- Other pertinent billing duties as requested by Billing Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- 1+ years' experience in a law firm billing department or equivalent.
- High school diploma: undergraduate degree preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ripe LMSV billing system and direct partner interaction experience a plus.

The anticipated pay range for this role is $58,000 to $75,000 in Chicago. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined Based On Several Factors, Including Qualifications And Experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
