Biller

About the role

MCR Health is seeking a Biller to join our team in Bradenton, FL. This role focuses on the accuracy and completeness of claims for quality documentation reporting and to maximize reimbursement. You will complete tracking and trending of denied claims, errors, and other assigned issues, communicating findings to the applicable AMA and MCR Revenue Cycle Leader. Additionally, this position serves as a documentation resource for providers and clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Notify the appropriate leader of immediate or pending system errors or problems.
• Direct problem accounts to the appropriate leader.
• Transmit electronic claims daily and confirm transmittals are accepted by all payers.
• Advise operational leader(s) of front desk staff billing errors.
• Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness, obtaining any missing information.
• Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
• Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe.
• Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discounts.
• Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary.
• Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 Coding preferred.
• Working knowledge of Managed Care, Government Payers, and Private Payers.
• Working knowledge of Payer websites (e.g., Availity, Optum, Navient, Waystar, etc.).
• Electronic medical record (EMR) experience preferred (Athena a plus).
