About the role

Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) seeks full-time English‑Spanish bilingual attorneys to join its offices in Granger or Wenatchee. Applicants must be fluent in English and Spanish; additional languages are encouraged. Selected candidates must be able to start the position in 2027, by Fall 2027, with an exact start date to be determined. A minimum two‑year commitment to the role is expected.

As a staff attorney you will provide direct representation, individual consultations, and community outreach and education to immigrant community members seeking immigration protections before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and immigration courts, and may also handle additional immigration matters, including cases involving individuals in immigration detention.

Founded in 1984, NWIRP is a nationally‑recognized legal services organization defending and advancing the rights of immigrants. With over 200 employees, NWIRP provides direct legal representation and assistance in immigration matters to thousands of low‑income people from over 150 countries who speak over 60 different languages. The organization challenges unjust policies through high‑impact lawsuits, advocates for laws and policies that respect immigrant rights, and is a trusted provider of immigration‑related community education for immigrant communities and social service providers. NWIRP serves the community through four offices in Washington State (Granger, Seattle, Tacoma and Wenatchee), and its impact is felt nationwide.

The Granger office is located in the small rural city surrounded by orchards and vineyards in Yakima County, 25 miles southeast of Yakima and 49 miles east of the Benton/Franklin County “Tri‑Cities.” It serves clients from across Central and Eastern Washington, handling asylum, cancellation of removal, humanitarian relief under VAWA and TVPRA, family‑based, naturalization, and representations for children and youth. The office has a current staff of 17 and a client base largely consisting of farmworkers and their families, and is housed within a community center that includes a public Spanish‑language radio station, social‑service providers, and a seasonal farmer’s market.

The Wenatchee office is situated in the heart of Washington State, nestled in the foothills of the Cascade mountain range at the confluence of the Columbia and Wenatchee Rivers. The Greater Wenatchee area has approximately 125,000 residents, scenic orchards, a growing wine industry, easy access to rivers, lakes, hiking trails, and the downhill ski resort Mission Ridge. Its staff of 17 serves clients from Central and Northeastern Washington, with a client base largely composed of farmworkers and their families.
