Bilingual Spanish Teacher
About the role
The role of the Bilingual Spanish Teacher is to utilize advanced pedagogical knowledge to plan and deliver high-quality instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment. This essential role includes translating orally and in writing for teachers, administrators, students, and parents, as well as preparing instructional materials as directed by school leadership.
This position also involves acting as a responsible educational professional who establishes and maintains effective, appropriate working relationships with students, parents, and staff, fostering an environment of academic excellence and cultural responsiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required/Masters preferred.
- New Jersey Department of Education Certification CE, CEAS, Provisional, or Standard: Elementary School Teacher, K-6, or specific Subject Area endorsement AND a Teacher of Bilingual/Bicultural Education Endorsement.
- Demonstrate full fluency and bilingualism in both English and Spanish, including oral and written mastery.
- Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters.
Requirements/Environmental Conditions
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
- Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials.
- Requires the ability to work in noisy and crowded environments.
- Occasionally requires stooping, bending, or reaching.
- Requires some traveling.
Performance Responsibilities
- Supports the overarching vision and mission of iLearn Schools Inc. by upholding board and administrative initiatives, adhering strictly to all federal and New Jersey education laws and policies, and demonstrating the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct.
- Actively assists with the charter school renewal process, safeguarding confidentiality, executing affirmative action guidelines, adhering to emergency response procedures, and promptly reporting any concerns related to student safety, health, or well-being.
- Designs, scaffolds, and executes comprehensive bilingual lessons that align with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and the WIDA English Language Development (ELD) standards.
- Supervises students across assigned educational spaces, manages and curates classroom materials, budgets instructional time efficiently to maximize student engagement, and conducts targeted data collection and reporting to drive student growth and language acquisition metrics.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with students, staff, parents, and the broader community in both English and Spanish; provides precise oral interpretation and high-quality written translations for school forms, parent letters, and meetings; and fosters positive, inclusive community relationships.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation: Base $66,500, Tested Subject $2,000, Experience $200 per year, Advanced Degree-Masters $3,000; PHD $5,000. Comprehensive Benefits: Health (Medical, Vision, Dental), Short Term Disability, AAE, & Pension.
Pay and Schedule
Ten-month employee.
