About the role
This position handles the high-volume administrative and borrower support work that accompanies every lead.
Responsibilities
- Track all new completed and incomplete loan applications received daily and follow up with borrowers to assist them.
- Review applications for completeness and accuracy to ensure all documentation is received before the Mortgage Banker reviews for pre-approval.
- Contact new leads promptly after application submission.
- Verify employment history, residence history, assets, liabilities, and income.
- Serve as the first point of contact for new borrowers by answering general mortgage process questions, collecting required documentation, and helping borrowers locate and upload documents to the portal.
- Create and maintain digital borrower files.
- Pull credit reports and prepare credit improvement plans for the Mortgage Banker to review prior to following up with the borrower.
- Maintain and update the pre-approval tracking list and follow up with pre-approved clients regularly.
- Connect borrowers with homeowner's insurance agents when requested and collect insurance information.
- Assist Pipeline Manager with initial disclosures, file setup, outstanding documentation and communication with processing.
- Track and monitor outstanding documents and loan conditions to ensure items are completed in a timely manner.
- Assist Mortgage Banker with scheduling appointments, calendar management, correspondences, and daily task management.
- Prepare closing gifts for realtors.
- Assist with event planning and coordination to include assisting at realtor events, client appreciation events, attending open houses when needed, and ordering marketing supplies.
- Provide daily report updates to the Mortgage Banker.
- Serve as the gatekeeper to the Mortgage Banker's database and regularly maintain it with new client information.
- Create standardized email templates and standard operating procedures to help improve efficiency through process documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 3 - 5 years of experience in the mortgage industry
- Must be bilingual and fluent in Spanish
- Strong processing or underwriting experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and relationship management skills
- Ability to organize, be detail-oriented, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to collaborate and work with all levels and varying positions of staff
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
