Bilingual Home Visiting Family Support Specialist
About the role
Kansas Children’s Service League is seeking a full-time Bilingual Healthy Families Home Visiting Family Support Specialist in Pittsburg, KS. This position offers a competitive wage starting at $18.54 per hour and operates on a Monday-Friday schedule with occasional evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Builds trusting relationships with families based on the Healthy Families America model.
- Completes initial enrollment visits with families and conducts FROG assessments.
- Schedules and provides regular home visits with families in accordance with KCSL Healthy Families policies and procedures.
- Conducts ongoing screens and assessments using tools like the ASQ, ASQ-SE, EPDS, and others required by the program.
- Implements research-based curriculum, Growing Great Kids, during home visits with families.
- Supports and guides families in developing the Family Goal Plan and encourages them in achieving identified goals.
Requirements
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Required: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience working with or providing services to children and families.
- Able to maintain professional boundaries when providing supportive services.
- Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

- Preferred: Infant Mental Health endorsement.

Job Summary
The Healthy Families Home Visiting Family Support Specialist (FSS) is responsible for building trusting relationships with families based on the Healthy Families America model. The FSS will visit families in their homes to provide support in establishing positive home environments, promote strong attachments through the parent-child relationships, and encourage the well-being of children and families. Utilizing an infant mental health approach, the FSS will practice reflective strategies to strengthen parent-child relationships, improve parenting skills, teach effective problem-solving, and reduce family stress.
