Bilingual Clinical Intern - Fall 2026
About the role
Hoyleton Youth and Family Services offers various internship opportunities for students interested in social human services, including counseling, mental health, and non-profit management.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a clinical intern providing assessment, individual/group/family therapy services, and assisting Spanish-speaking clients in developing functional skills.
- Completes diagnostic assessments and develops the Integrated Assessment and Treatment Plan with clients, parents/guardians, and/or case workers.
- Fulfills all regulatory requirements when completing initial, review, and/or update paperwork for required documents.
- Provides crisis intervention services as needed and schedules clinical case staffing to ensure consistent communication with other professional staff.
- Participates in weekly supervision sessions with direct supervisors to discuss strengths and areas for improvement.
- Complies with Medicaid Rule 132 and Managed Care Organization requirements for timely completion of clinical documentation.
- Engages in Utilization Reviews of clinical files and completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related human services field (Master’s level preferred).
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required to effectively communicate with clients and families.
- Must meet DCFS/CANTS clearance requirements.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.

Working Conditions
This position operates in a professional office setting at the Fairview Heights headquarters with occasional travel to other agency sites. The role involves periods of walking, standing, or sitting, and may occasionally require climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, or lifting up to 20 pounds, depending on job duties. Minimal exposure to environmental factors such as noise, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor temperatures may occur based on program needs and client-related activities.
