About the Role

Team Leaders are responsible for leading and providing direct care to a team of students, helping them achieve established goals for mind, body, and soul. This position involves leading programming, engaging students in blended learning activities, providing academic support, offering spiritual mentorship, and serving children and families in various capacities. Team Leaders report to the Site Director, Assistant Site Director, or Director of Junior High.

Spiritual Requirements

• Has a personal and saving relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by a lifestyle that demonstrates the Word of God, and is in regular fellowship with a Bible-believing church.
• Agrees with the By The Hand Club Doctrinal Statement and adheres to the Employee Biblical Standards of Living.
• Models the importance of Scripture memorization, Bible study, prayer, witnessing, and Christian fellowship.
• Participates in weekly team prayer and devotion.
• Has completed an evangelism course and is trained to share the gospel.
• Works with leadership to monitor and enforce policies that further By The Hand’s religious purpose and religious freedom.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties consistent with the vision, mission, and culture of By The Hand, committing to excellence in all aspects of operations.
• Models cultural values in day-to-day behavior and follows all policies, including brand standards and the Child Protection Policy.
• Participates in employee growth plans, including quarterly conversations and annual reviews.
• Ensures 100% of students complete yearly eye and dental examinations.
• Leads recruitment and retention efforts for students in their class.
• Records, reviews, and submits team data regularly.
• Coordinates with departments to facilitate cohort participation in fundraising and volunteer efforts.
• Follows the Student Behavior Policy and classroom management training to keep students on task.
• Ensures overall targets for academic and spiritual progress, attendance, and retention are met.
• Provides safe passage for students from partner schools, including pickup and drop-off.
• Conducts home and teacher visits, completing all required forms in a timely manner.
• Builds positive relationships with parents/guardians and teachers to ensure holistic care for each child.
• Plans and leads enrichment, Bible study, SEL, homework, blended learning, and other program activities.
• Implements new strategies to engage students in learning and encourages each child to do their best.
• Assists the Spiritual Development Specialist in chapel by teaching lessons, leading worship, or other activities.
• Attends organizational training sessions throughout the year.
• Provides opportunities for students to complete homework and offers spiritual mentorship (one-on-one or in small groups).
• Contributes input for improvements in programming, staff culture, and student culture.
• Works with staff and leadership to implement policies that further By The Hand’s religious purpose and religious freedom.
• Participates in school and community recruitment events.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of college, trade school, or post-high school certificate.
• 1-2 years of experience teaching in an elementary or middle school in an urban environment (desirable).
• Experience using Google Suite, Google Drive, and communication apps.

• 100% recruitment and enrollment of class.
• 80% or better attendance.
• 80% or better retention.
• 100% completion of reading software program.
• 80% of home and school visits completed every 3 months.
• 75% of students pass all classes at school, preferably making ABCs.
• 100% of eye and dental exams with follow-up work completed.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The position requires in-person attendance as agreed upon with the immediate supervisor.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to speak and listen.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and move around the classroom and site.
• Tasks include lifting, bending, and repetitive motions like keyboarding for prolonged periods.
• May require moving equipment between rooms and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Travel to other organizational sites for meetings and training is required periodically.

Pay

$19 per hour
