About the role

We are seeking actors to appear in our app-based video lessons as language teachers. In these video lessons, you'll be seated behind a table facing a camera and deliver pre-written scripts explaining language concepts and phrases for learners. While these lessons are not live, they are interactive. Scripts also contain questions to the user and a variety of responses based on their performance.

Scripts are written in English and you will act out as a professional in a different industry other than education, who is excited that their friend has decided to learn a new language (think helpful, friendly vibes rather than a strict teacher vibe).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-written scripts explaining language concepts and phrases for learners.
  • Interact with users through the app, answering questions and providing feedback based on their performance.
  • Record video lessons that will be used in the app, ensuring clarity and engagement.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Japanese and English.
  • Strong preference for native Japanese speakers or heritage Japanese speakers.
  • No accent when speaking English.
  • A neutral Japanese accent for the Japanese portions of the script.

Qualifications

  • Experience acting or teaching is not required, but a passion for language learning and teaching is essential.
  • Ability to convey enthusiasm and positivity in your interactions with users.
  • Proficiency in using video recording software and editing tools.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both in Japanese and English.
  • Ability to adapt to different teaching styles and engage users effectively.
  • Knowledge of language learning methodologies and materials.
