About the role
Alyeska Resort is seeking Trail Crew professionals to join their team in Girdwood, Alaska. The position involves designing, constructing, and maintaining hiking and biking trails.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the design, construction, and maintenance of all hiking and biking trails on resort property.
- Maintains trails according to Hiking & Biking supervisors and Mountain Management instructions.
- Places signage at appropriate locations to inform riders and hikers about trail conditions.
- Works collaboratively with other resort departments and maintains respect for guests and employees.
Requirements
- Advanced to expert level mountain biker.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Alaska Driver's License.
- Ability to operate ATV and pickup truck on mountain roads.
- Ability to use various hand tools such as pulaski, pick, shovel, rake, handsaw, hammer, chainsaw, brush cutter, compactor, power wheelbarrow, rotor-hammer, etc.
- Ability to operate small gas/pneumatic/electric powered tools.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.

- Be on alert and at times, on your feet for long periods, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work in a fast-paced, high-energy resort environment.
- Adapt to seasonal changes around the resort and special events.
- Physical demands: while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. The employee must be able to operate hand and foot controls on vehicles.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Employee may be required to pass a functional capacity test developed for this job.
- Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Physical terrain in the work environment can be uneven with poor traction; there is ice and snow outside, and wet floors indoors.
