Responsibilities

  • Provides superior customer service
  • Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • Answers customer questions regarding products; assists them with selections
  • Prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
  • Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
  • Aids in technical areas as needed (e.g., basic set-up and clean-up processes)
  • Uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
  • Cleans and sanitizes display cases
  • Operates / maintains equipment properly
  • Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
  • Complies with department / Store operating procedures

Customer Service

  • Bakery: Records production and shrink to aid in production planning
  • Bakery: Assists in technical areas as needed (e.g., baking, frying, and decorating)
  • Bakery: Culls bakery products for poor quality, expiration dates
  • Deli: Takes care of service counter
  • Deli: Uses ordering system applications
  • Deli: Uses Fresh Production Planner
  • Deli: Performs inventory management processes (MSI, PAW) as required
  • Deli: Ensures catering orders are prepared and ready in time for Customer pickup
  • Deli: Performs all sanitation and maintenance tasks for Deli slicers
  • Prepared Foods: Serves / packages products at customer's request
  • Prepared Foods: Educates customers on preparation / reheating instructions of prepared foods
  • Prepared Foods: Prepackages condiments (sauces, dressings) for prepared food items
  • Prepared Foods: Cuts, slices, dices, chops, food in preparation for chef

Qualifications & Key Requirements

  • Age Requirement: 18+
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of computer systems and equipment (e.g., PC, symbol, scales, label machine); Strong customer service skills; Communication and interpersonal skills; Reading and writing skills; Planning and organizing skills; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work Experience: Required - HS Diploma or GED or equivalent; Required - Completion of Company Orientation; Required - Food safety and sanitation training upon hire
