BI Engineer , BI Center of Excellence

Responsibilities

• Design and develop BI reporting and data platforms.
• Create user-facing data visualization and presentation tools, including SSRS reports, Power BI dashboards, MicroStrategy, and Excel PivotTables.
• Support data retrieval and management for Evolent Health.
• Ensure BI data assets align with organizational strategic goals.
• Implement effective business analytics practices to enhance decision-making, efficiency, and performance.
• Aid in technology improvements to continuously enhance the core BI platform.
• Perform complex data analysis using advanced SQL skills and Excel.
• Communicate with non-technical business users to gather specific requirements for reports and BI solutions.
• Maintain and support existing BI applications and reports.
• Present work when requested and participate in knowledge-sharing sessions with team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in BI/Data Warehouse domain developing BI solutions and data analysis tasks using MSBI suites.
• Strong proficiency in Power BI: building reports, dashboards, DAX, and Power Query (M).
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Lakehouses, Dataflows Gen2, Direct Lake capabilities, and PowerAutomate.
• Experience with Azure Data Services: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, or similar.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Knowledge of Advanced SQL for data manipulation and performance tuning.
• Experience implementing ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with healthcare industry, particularly with authorizations, claims, eligibility, and patient clinical data.
• Experience with Python, Spark, or Databricks for data engineering or transformation is preferred.
• Familiarity with DevOps/GitRepo for BI, including deployment.

Pay

The expected base salary/wage range for this position is $90,000 - 100,000.
