BHT - Behavioral Health Technician - Geri Psych - Multiple Shifts

About the role

Our Behavioral Health services at UAB St. Vincent’s East include 80 beds for adult and geriatric patients with acute and chronic mental health needs. Our dedicated team-based care model provides individualized, compassionate care. We provide a safe and structured environment focused on stabilization, recovery, and long-term wellness.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct behavioral health patient care.
• Aid patients with performing activities of daily living.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions.
• Observe and record patient behavior and activities.
• Report any changes in condition and suggest modifications to the treatment plan.
• Establish a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients.

Requirements

• Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certified Nurse Aide preferred.
• Education: High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative relevant experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
