About the role
The BH Technician II position at JPS Health Network supports psychiatric treatment environments, assisting with patient care under the supervision of nurses and the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Responsibilities
- Assists in delivering direct patient care as directed by the nurse, documenting vital signs and specimen results.
- Maintains a therapeutic environment by engaging patients in groups and reporting their participation and needs to the nurses and interdisciplinary team.
- Aids in patient admission, discharge, and transfer processes, ensuring patient property is checked and valuables are secured.
- Supports patients in ADLs, utilizes the individual’s coping/treatment plan to address their needs, and assists in non-aggressive crisis management.
- Maintains patient safety through non-aggressive patient management and environmental rounds, escorts patients within the facility, and transports them in a van as needed.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and completes hand-off communications with nurses and other staff to ensure patient safety and monitoring.
- Maintains cleanliness of the unit in collaboration with the housekeeping department, evaluates, records, and addresses the day-to-day needs of patients.
- Completes evaluations, records, and provides for the day-to-day needs of mentally, emotionally, and/or developmentally disabled patients.
Requirements
- Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management, obtained during orientation and maintained throughout employment.
- Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, maintained throughout employment.
- Relevant experience: 4797 BH Tech I: 0-1.99 years, 4798 BH Tech II: 2-4.99 years, 4799 BH Tech III: 5-9.99 years, 4800 BH Tech IV: 10+ years.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, along with certifications such as CNA, EMT, or Psychiatric Technician Certification preferred.
Qualifications
- Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Must have certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management and maintain it while employed.
