About the role

Moss is a leading national EPC company focused on clean energy projects. The Bess Electrical Assistant Superintendents play a crucial role in coordinating and supporting Superintendents, contractors, and craft activities on large utility solar projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure high-quality installation of electrical portions of the project, including underground electrical collections system
  • Support in drawing, constructability, submittal reviews, and feedback with the engineering team, ensuring compliance with specifications and contract documents
  • Work with Electrical Superintendent and General Electrical Superintendent to develop project schedules and updates, and create 3-week look-ahead
  • Collaborate with work teams to ensure they have necessary resources and support
  • Supervise and manage work teams, including self-performed and subcontracted work
  • Manage connections of the power grid to the existing distribution system
  • Support quality control of work teams, including installation, splicing, and termination of fiber optic cables
  • Participate in project meetings and liaise with field engineers and contractors/craft workers to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications
  • Support subcontractor procurement, scheduling, and coordination with other site activities
  • Work with engineering staff to ensure accurate transmission of plans, specifications, submittals, and RFIs to subcontractors
  • Monitor safety, quality, and efficiency of subcontracted work on every project
  • Counsel, mentor, and train field personnel, forepersons, and assistant superintendents
  • Prepare various reports, including Sequence of Operation instructions for equipment use and energization of circuits, and written Methods of Operation (MOPs)
  • Create and maintain a teamwork environment
  • Provide work direction and performance evaluations
  • Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions as needed
  • Develop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments and career growth opportunities
  • Handle open shop and union issues
  • Maintain relationships with all visitors to the site, including customers, architects, union representatives, subcontractors, etc.
  • Run site work and logistics efficiently, providing suggestions for improvement

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with medium voltage equipment and cable, installation of collection line construction
  • Experience providing support on large self-perform projects
  • Proficiency in the installation, testing, acceptance, maintenance, and repair of medium voltage cables
  • Knowledgeable about current injection, Hi-pot, capacitance discharge, contact resistance, Megger, TTR, Doble, and other methods of cable and equipment testing
  • Possess working knowledge of electrical drawings, sketches, and prints, underground duct banks, trenching, manholes and vaults for distribution and collection systems, underground and pad mount transformer usage, SCADA systems used in the power industry, and testing and commissioning
  • Current driver’s license
  • 100% travel required with rotations

Pay

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time, exempt position requiring significant travel across multiple states.
