Responsibilities

  • Selling and advising needed services to customers.
  • Identify automotive problems and services by listening to customers’ description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; taking test drives; checking vehicle maintenance records; examining service schedules.
  • Implement Service Work Bench to its fullest.
  • Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers, explaining provisions and exclusions.
  • Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor, calculating customer's payment, including deductibles.
  • Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system.
  • Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle; obtaining customer's approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation.
  • Maintains automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' publications.
  • Maintains organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge in Equipment Maintenance, Lifting, Problem Solving, Reporting Research Results, Quality Focus, Productivity, Estimating, Product Knowledge, Customer Service, Problem Solving, Safety Management.
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles.
  • Experience in operational use and maintenance of wide variety of hand power tools, shop tools, and automotive and electrical test equipment.
  • Understanding of basic automotive techniques related to repair and servicing of automobiles.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn new and innovative automotive technologies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Perform detailed daily record keeping and reporting.
  • Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Work in a team-based environment and achieve common goals.
  • Dealer’s Management System(s), Outlook, and MS office.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Duties are performed primarily at a desk in an office setting. Work includes frequent clerical and administrative responsibilities and interaction with managers and employees.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Occasional lifting, standing, crawling, reaching, use of stairs.
  • Occasional attendance at social gatherings.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
