About the role

The Windshield Installer removes and installs automotive windshields and related glass components following manufacturer specifications, company standards, and safety requirements. This position also performs or assists with sensor calibration after windshield replacement to ensure cameras, sensors, and related safety systems operate properly.

Responsibilities

  • Review work orders with service staff to confirm vehicle information, glass replacement needs, calibration requirements, and customer concerns.
  • Inspect vehicles before service and protect interior and exterior surfaces during windshield removal, installation, and calibration work.
  • Safely remove damaged windshields, moldings, trim, adhesives, and related components while minimizing risk of damage to the vehicle body, paint, interior, and electrical systems.
  • Prepare pinch welds, glass surfaces, primers, urethane, and related materials according to manufacturer procedures and company quality standards.
  • Install windshields and related automotive glass components using proper tools, materials, alignment methods, and safe drive-away time requirements.
  • Reconnect, transfer, or verify attached components such as mirrors, rain sensors, cameras, moldings, clips, and trim panels as required.
  • Perform or assist with camera and sensor calibration after windshield replacement using approved calibration targets, scan tools, and equipment.
  • Follow pre-scan, post-scan, static calibration, and dynamic calibration procedures as required by the vehicle manufacturer and company process.
  • Verify completed installations for proper fit, seal, appearance, leaks, noise concerns, warning lights, and proper operation of related safety features.
  • Accurately document work performed, materials used, calibration results, scan reports, and any concerns or recommendations related to the service.
  • Maintain glass tools, calibration equipment, adhesives, primers, personal protective equipment, and installation supplies in good working condition.
  • Follow company procedures, manufacturer guidelines, safety standards, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements while performing glass and calibration services.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper disposal of glass, urethane, blades, liners, and used materials.
  • Provide courteous customer service and communicate professionally with team members, advisors, vendors, and management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • General mechanical skills.
  • Manual dexterity and good judgment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • ASE certification preferred.
  • Related experience preferred.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Pass a background check and drug test.
  • Must be 21 years or older.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, noise, and chemicals.
  • Occasional lifting, standing, crawling, reaching, use of stairs, and attendance at social gatherings.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
