Berrien County CPS & Foster Care Services Specialist 9-12

About the role

The Services Specialist will utilize child welfare practice skills to ensure children are protected from abuse and neglect. When child abuse or neglect is indicated, specialists work closely with families and the legal system toward a goal of reunification, independent living, or other permanent living situation.

Responsibilities

• Utilize child welfare practice skills to ensure children are protected from abuse and neglect.
• Work closely with families and the legal system toward a goal of reunification, independent living, or other permanent living situation.

Requirements

• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
• Must be able to travel to various locations within Berrien County as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, or related field.
• One year of experience working with children and families in a social service setting.
• Experience working with child welfare systems and knowledge of child abuse and neglect prevention.

Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

• Salary range: $35,000 - $45,000 annually.
