Performs labor-intensive job duties in the care for established landscaping, including mowing, trimming, chipping, watering, digging, drip system repair, sprinkler repair, fence repair, maintenance of existing landscapes, planting, pruning, weeding, trash removal, snow removal, and general upkeep of landscaped medians, trails, and illegal dumping sites within Bernalillo County.
Maintains and cleans trails, roadway right-of-way, medians, and illegal dump sites as assigned.
Responds to 311 complaints.
Issues work orders and prioritizes daily work activities.
Operates on-and-off road vehicles such as Skidsteer, Loader, and attachments.
Performs daily safety inspections on assigned vehicles and equipment.
Reports and documents safety issues, including inspecting and testing tire conditions, air pressures, brakes, mechanical and engine fluid levels, water, brake lights, headlights, and other operational systems.
Operates snow removal equipment under adverse weather conditions and outside normal work hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) as scheduled or required.
Instructs service workers in the proper use and operation of personal protective equipment (PPE), equipment, hand tools, weed eaters, power tools, and spray equipment.
Responds during County-declared emergencies.
Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

High School diploma or GED.
Two (2) years of experience in landscaping, landscaping equipment, performing pre-use safety inspections, daily equipment maintenance, operating large equipment (e.g., transport of equipment using a truck and trailer, spray equipment), or towing and securing trailers.
Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered.
Valid New Mexico Class B Commercial Driver’s License (must maintain while employed).
Must obtain Traffic Control Supervisor certification within twelve (12) months of hire.
Ability to operate small power tools, hand tools, and landscaping maintenance equipment.
Knowledge of irrigation systems maintenance, testing, and repair.
Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions in English with minimal supervision.
Successful completion of a post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation.
Adherence to all County safety guidelines.
Completion of all assigned FEMA training(s).

Knowledge of low-voltage landscaping irrigation systems repair.
Knowledge of operation of front-end loader, skid steer loader, and associated implements.
Possession of Traffic Control Supervisor certification.

Work schedule may vary from normal hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) as required, including for snow removal.
Duties performed both indoors and outdoors, exposed to natural weather conditions, which may be severe (e.g., snow, wind, lightning, extreme cold, and heat).
Exposure to occasional vibration, noise, fumes, odors (e.g., paint and solvents), dust, and mists.
Work surfaces may include even or uneven terrain (e.g., concrete, asphalt, natural ground, ice, snow, gravel) and may be dry or wet.
Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolds is required both indoors and outdoors.
Exposure to work hazards, including electrical wiring, heavy lifting, slick or muddy surfaces, and working around power tools and equipment.

Hand and power tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, lawn mowers, weed eaters, blowers, snow removal machines, chippers).
Vehicles and equipment (e.g., Skidsteer, Loader, tractors, trailers, implements).
Safety and measurement tools (e.g., ladder, scaffold, tape measure, hoisting equipment, toolbox, volts/ohm/amp-meter, flashlight).
Supplies (e.g., electrical parts, plumbing parts, fasteners, adhesives, paints, solvents, gasoline, diesel, oil, cleaning materials).
Required to drive vehicles, including heavy equipment or towing trailers with work equipment.

Lift up to 50 pounds from ground to waist, shoulder, or overhead level, typically no more than 5 times per day.
Utilize hoists and dollies to move heavy equipment and supplies weighing up to 150 pounds.
Push and pull 25 to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
Climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding up to 10 times per day.
Maintain balance while climbing and standing on ladders or scaffolds.
Crawl, crouch, or work in a prone or supine position for short periods.
Bend at the waist and twist/rotate waist frequently during the day; lifting may be required while bending.
Work with arms extended or bent for up to 8 hours per day.
Use hands and fingers to grasp, manipulate equipment, and materials in a coordinated manner.
Use finger dexterity for repair and maintenance tasks (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry).
Coordinate use of hands and eyes.
Adequate senses of smell, hearing, and tactile sense.
