Berks Sports Anchor/Reporter (Job#B480)

Responsibilities

• Anchors sports segments from our Reading newsroom as assigned.
• Reports, shoots, writes, and edits sports stories for television, digital, and social media platforms.
• Covers high school athletics, including football, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, soccer, and other local sports.
• Produces features highlighting local athletes, coaches, and community sports stories.
• Covers live sporting events, breaking sports news, and championship competitions.
• Generates enterprise story ideas and cultivates sources throughout Berks County.
• Contributes to WFMZ.com, the WFMZ App, and social media with timely sports content.
• Represents WFMZ professionally at community and sporting events.
• Works collaboratively with the entire Sports and News departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred.
• Previous television sports reporting or anchoring experience is preferred.
• Exceptional storytelling, writing, and live reporting skills.
• Experience shooting and editing video is strongly preferred.
• Strong social media and digital content creation skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours based on sports schedules and breaking news.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
