About the role
The Bereavement Counselor plays a vital role in delivering our hospice philosophy of comfort, dignity, and compassionate care. This position provides high-quality emotional and clinical support to individuals, families, and groups navigating loss through grief counseling.
Responsibilities
- Deliver grief counseling to individuals, families, and groups.
- Collaborate with the Social Work & Bereavement team under the direction of the Lead Bereavement Counselor and the Director of Social Work & Bereavement Services.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Social Work (LMSW), Mental Health Counseling or a related field.
- Experience working in a clinical grief counseling setting counseling individuals, families and groups going through loss.
- Refined clinical counseling skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of the grief response.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with electronic communication systems such as Microsoft Teams & Zoom.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite, specifically Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
- Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy.
- Ability to work with autonomy, as well as a team member.
