About the role

The Bereavement Counselor plays a vital role in delivering our hospice philosophy of comfort, dignity, and compassionate care. This position provides high-quality emotional and clinical support to individuals, families, and groups navigating loss through grief counseling.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver grief counseling to individuals, families, and groups.
  • Collaborate with the Social Work & Bereavement team under the direction of the Lead Bereavement Counselor and the Director of Social Work & Bereavement Services.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (LMSW), Mental Health Counseling or a related field.
  • Experience working in a clinical grief counseling setting counseling individuals, families and groups going through loss.
  • Refined clinical counseling skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the grief response.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with electronic communication systems such as Microsoft Teams & Zoom.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite, specifically Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy.
  • Ability to work with autonomy, as well as a team member.
