Position Summary
The Bennett Preschool Assistant Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising youth in a variety of outdoor and indoor programming, under all weather conditions. The position involves the care of children 6 weeks-5 years, with the ability to identify and respond to safety problems.

Essential Functions
- Practices safe, responsible care of children.
- Implements curriculum and programming for assigned group of children.
- Communicates the core values and rules, and carries out positive behavior, with children.
- Observes children's development while taking anecdotal notes, video, and photographs.
- Predicts, prevents, identifies, and responds to safety issues for children in his/her care.
- Upholds Policies and Procedures as it relates to childcare licensing, YMCA policies, and ACA guidelines.
- Attends required trainings and meetings.
- Assists in opening or closing the preschool as assigned.
- Participates in daily cleaning of program buildings as assigned.
- Works in other departments or program areas as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Experience working with children preferred, but not required.
- Must be able to work effectively with other team members and communicate to resolve issues.
- Must regularly lift up to 40 pounds up to four feet.
- Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be fluent in speaking English.
- Must enjoy working with kids.
- Must possess current First Aid and CPR certification.
