About the role
The BenePhilly Counselor provides direct client assistance to help individuals and families access public benefits and supportive services that promote housing stability and economic self-sufficiency.
Responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments and eligibility screenings for public benefits, including but not limited to SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, LIHEAP, SSI/SSDI referrals, Homestead, Property Tax Rebate, and other local, state, and federal programs
- Absorb and assist clients with completing and submitting benefit applications and renewals
- Provide in-person, phone, and virtual counseling services, including outreach services in assigned communities
- Prepare an action plan for the client on benefit requirements, timelines, and reporting obligations
- Daily Data Collection & Entry on a timely basis
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of experience in benefit applications
- Fluency in English and Spanish
- Familiarity with social service networks in Philadelphia
- Ability to maintain a caseload of clients, including prompt and accurate maintenance of clients’ electronic file documentation with attention to detail and confidentiality
- Excellent oral and written communication, customer service, and presentation skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office programs
- Great organization skills and time management

Pay
$45,000 - $48,000 annually
