We are looking for a Benefits Specialist to support benefits administration for a social care/services organization in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is a long-term contract position.

About the role

Focus on coordinating employee benefit programs, reviewing plan activity, and helping ensure accurate and timely support for leave and benefits-related matters. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of compensation and benefits practices, careful analytical skills, and the ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Administer day-to-day benefits activities, ensuring employees receive accurate guidance on available programs and enrollment processes.
  • Coordinate benefit-related communications and serve as a point of contact for questions involving coverage, eligibility, and plan changes.
  • Review benefits data and documentation to identify discrepancies, support reporting needs, and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with leave administration, including FMLA-related tracking, documentation, and follow-up with employees and internal stakeholders.
  • Support compensation and benefits processes by helping monitor plan participation, policy compliance, and employee transactions.
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to resolve benefit issues and improve the overall employee support experience.
  • Prepare summaries, reports, and analysis related to benefits utilization, plan activity, and administrative trends.

Requirements

  • Experience working in benefits administration, benefits coordination, or a closely related human resources function.
  • Knowledge of compensation and benefits practices, including employee benefit programs and plan administration.
  • Ability to analyze benefits information, interpret records accurately, and identify issues requiring follow-up.
  • Familiarity with FMLA processes and the handling of leave-related documentation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain benefits information clearly and professionally.
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and discretion when managing confidential employee information.
