Job Description

The Benefits & Leave Specialist is responsible for administering and supporting employee benefits programs and leave of absence processes. This role ensures accurate and compliant management of health and welfare plans, retirement benefits, and both statutory and company-sponsored leave programs. This position partners closely with HR, Payroll, and external vendors to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and a positive employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and wellness initiatives
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries
  • Manage and administer leave of absence programs including FMLA, ADA, parental, and medical leave
  • Track and maintain leave records in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Coordinate with third-party administrators and vendors for benefits and leave processing
  • Facilitate benefits enrollment (new hires, life events, open enrollment)
  • Maintain accurate benefits data within the HRIS system
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate benefit deductions and resolve discrepancies
  • Support benefits communication and employee education initiatives
  • Assist with compliance efforts including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA
  • Support audits and maintain proper documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and systems
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
  • Provide additional HR support as needed

Qualifications

  • Experience in benefits and leave of absence administration
  • Proven experience building and implementing a Leave of Absence (LOA) program from the ground up
  • Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and other leave regulations
  • Understanding of benefits compliance (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA)
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with HRIS and benefits platforms
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, and vendors

Pay

The pay for this role is $100,000 - $125,000.
