Benefits Analyst (I or II)

About the Role

Promote superior customer service via the communication, delivery, and administration of benefit programs to employees. Answer employee questions and work closely with benefits and human resources teams and third-party administrators to ensure benefit plans are operating smoothly. Gather key plan data, assist in analysis, and recommend process improvements. Uphold and promote the Everus 4EVER Strategy: Employees | Value | Execution | Relationships.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute payroll processes, including system updates for timely completion of payrolls.
• Submit benefit and payroll deductions to vendors for each pay cycle.
• Track, monitor, and analyze claims, fees, premiums, and costs; reconcile discrepancies and develop summary reports.
• Coordinate and complete nondiscrimination and coverage testing, true-up calculations, and premium building for benefit plans.
• Implement and update approved benefit changes and regulatory updates (e.g., HIPAA).
• Coordinate and submit benefits surveys; benchmark corporate plans against national and industry standards.
• Prepare and present benefit recommendations and updates; interface with auditors.
• Provide analysis for mergers, acquisitions, and plan integrations.
• Serve as a resource for HR teams on benefit plan design, funding, and premium building.
• Assist with benefits budget preparation and provide monthly variance reports.
• Analyze renewals, plan changes, premium rates, and contracts.
• Maintain systems knowledge for tracking, reporting, and plan design.
• Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Benefits Analyst I:

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, accounting, or related field, OR
• Four years of equivalent experience with group insurance (health and welfare or retirement plans), including plan administration, research on plan design changes, and cost analysis.

Benefits Analyst II:

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, accounting, or related field, OR equivalent experience, AND
• Two years of in-depth benefits experience in welfare and qualified plans.

Skills

• General understanding of statistical analysis, benefits/payroll accounting, and employee benefit/payroll laws.
• Proven ability to apply analytical techniques and accounting principles to assist with benefit design and funding.
• Demonstrated customer support experience in communicating benefit plans and changes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional benefits and/or payroll experience.
• HRIS experience.
