Benefits Analyst
Position Summary
The Benefits Analyst position coordinates the administration of benefits programs such as medical coverage, dental insurance, group life insurance, education programs, absence management, and other benefit programs. Answers employee questions regarding eligibility, provisions, and other matters related to benefits. Maintains benefit records and documents necessary for implementing benefits coverage.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Benefits Administration
- Serve as primary contact for staff and faculty regarding benefits plan inquiries, including retirement.
- Contribute to the creation and distribution of benefit communications, including employee benefit booklets.
- Lead bi-weekly new employee benefits orientation sessions and ensure content is current.
- Maintain benefit content on the HR website.
- Develop, plan, and implement benefits education programs; coordinate with vendors on topic selection.
- Manage education assistance programs for employees and dependents.
- Absence Management
- Provide expertise and guidance on absence policies/programs including vacation, sick, holidays, FML, STD, LTD, parental leave, military leave, etc.
- Communicate and educate employees and managers on absence procedures and eligibility.
- Conduct research to respond to complex leave questions; provide policy interpretation as needed.
- Train HR colleagues in leave administration; document and maintain leave procedures.
- Respond to employee leave inquiries.
- Act as liaison between employees/managers and the third-party leave administrator.
- Maintain absence/leave content on the HR website.
- Manage absence workflows in Workday; run reports, audit records, and process transactions.
- Workday Administration
- Maintain a general understanding of benefit and absence workflows, benefit and absence plan setup/maintenance and rules, and manage benefit and absence transactions.
- Ensure accuracy of benefits data, including new hire enrollment, qualifying life events, and terminations.
- Monitor and update benefits and absence information in Workday, including regular audits.
- Validate Payroll-Impacting Benefit Elections and Absence Reconcile payroll and benefits/absence data; coordinate with HR Operations and Payroll to resolve discrepancies.
- Review and Troubleshoot Payroll Input
- Support Arrears and Retroactivity
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Support
- Identify and escalate configuration or system issues.
- Collaborate with HR Operations to track and resolve Workday service tickets.
- Identify opportunities to enhance benefits and absence processes, improve efficiency, and strengthen customer service.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date benefit and absence instructions in Workday.

- The Tuition Exchange, Inc. & The Associated Colleges of the South staff as well as Tuition Exchange Coordinators at member colleges and universities
- The University of Richmond Offices of Admission, VP for Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, and Recreation & Wellness.

- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in employee benefits, absence management, and Workday or a related field
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
Working Conditions/Physical Effort
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Opportunity for hybrid schedule after probation

Scheduled Hours
Scheduled Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm 38.75 hours per week. Some evenings occasionally.
Pay
Salary Range: Grade 7, Salaried Exempt ($58,011 to $86,299)
