Benefits Administration Services Analyst II
About The Role
As a Benefits Administration Services Analyst – Pension, you will support the administration and delivery of Defined Benefit (DB) pension plans for our clients. This role involves performing benefit calculations, processing participant transactions, researching and resolving participant inquiries, maintaining accurate plan and participant data, and supporting the overall day-to-day administration of assigned pension plans. The ideal candidate has experience working with Defined Benefit or pension plans, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to interpret plan provisions and apply them accurately to benefit administration activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform Defined Benefit pension calculations, including retirement, termination, death, and other benefit calculations in accordance with plan provisions.
- Review participant data and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness before processing transactions.
- Process participant elections, benefit commencements, distributions, and other pension-related transactions.
- Interpret and apply Defined Benefit plan provisions, administrative procedures, and established business rules.
- Gain a thorough understanding of plan designs, benefit formulas, options, and eligibility criteria.
- Research and resolve participant and plan administration issues, escalating more complex matters when appropriate.
- Review calculations and transactions for accuracy and compliance with established procedures and plan requirements.
- Maintain accurate participant records and update benefit administration systems as needed.
- Respond to participant, client, and internal team inquiries related to pension benefits and plan administration.
- Identify data discrepancies and work with appropriate teams to research and resolve issues.
- Support data validation, testing, audits, and other quality assurance activities.
- Assist with plan updates, system changes, annual processes, and special projects.
- Follow established service-level agreements, quality standards, procedures, and client-specific requirements.
- Maintain documentation related to processes, procedures, calculations, and plan administration activities.
- Collaborate with team members and other internal groups to ensure accurate and timely delivery of benefits administration services.
- Actively participate in team meetings, training activities, and client-facing interactions.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Support Senior Analysts and team leadership with more complex Defined Benefit administration activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 2+ years of experience in benefits administration, pension administration, or a related field.
- Experience with Defined Benefit pension plans strongly preferred.
- Experience performing or reviewing pension benefit calculations preferred.
- Understanding of retirement plan concepts, participant data, and benefit administration processes.
- Ability to interpret plan documents, procedures, and business rules and apply them accurately.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working with benefits administration or pension systems preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering Defined Benefit plans in a benefits outsourcing, consulting, or third-party administration environment.
- Knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, and other requirements applicable to Defined Benefit retirement plans.
- Experience with pension calculations involving early retirement, optional forms of payment, qualified domestic relations orders (QDROs), death benefits, or other complex benefit provisions.
- Experience with data analysis, system testing, or benefits administration implementations.
- Experience working in a client-service environment.

Pay
The estimated salary range for this role is $46,970-$61,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. In addition to base pay, this position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive.
