Benefits Account Manager
JOB SUMMARY
This position provides basic to broad level product expertise in support of the Employee Benefits Sales Consultants and Account Executives efforts to establish and build profitable client relationships. The position will provide client services and technical support to clients and other team members as required. Requires presentation skills and travel as necessary (within eight counties of WNY) to meet client needs.
About the role
The Account Manager will advise clients on industry standards, trends of clients and personal experience with carriers. Agency specific training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Works with Sales and Account Executives to service new, existing, and potential clients
- Advises and counsels clients on employee benefit products and services provided by Walsh and on various legislative issues involving Employee Benefits
- Processes all required documentation to add new coverage’s and/or effect changes, including collection and submission of data to carriers, as well as follow up questions, and review plan document/employee communications for accuracy
- Responsible for identifying, researching, analyzing, and resolving any client issues. Upon completion, documents in client management system appropriately
- Provides ongoing day-to-day account management
- Conducts enrollment/education meetings for employees at client locations
- Develops a working knowledge of all Walsh and carrier technology-based systems
- Works with Benefits Service Manager and carrier representatives to gain knowledge of all products and services
- Attends service meetings and product/educational seminars
- Attends pre-renewal, renewal, and prospective client meetings
- Oversees client initiatives and projects to ensure timely delivery and desired outcomes
- Cross trains as needed
- Adheres to the stated expectations of the E&O Plus Quality Management Program
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain up to date information using agency provided tools
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by agency management; may handle some moderately complex tasks independently
- Responds to requests in a timely manner
- Adheres to client service standards of the division and agency
- Participates in training and seminar courses
- Follows guidelines outlined in WD employee manual
- Monitor legislation that pertains to employee benefits and regularly communicates updates with Benefits Division and clients
Requirements
- Educational Requirement: Bachelor's degree (preferred)
- Experience Requirement: 3-5 years' experience in employee benefits/human resources (required)
- Licenses Required: Life & Health license (will be required in the first six months)
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Above average communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
- Exceptional time management skills
- Strong presentation skills for groups of 2 to 200 + people
- Ability to research and learn subject matter regarding employee benefits
