About the role
Certified Volunteer Ombudsmen work as a team to advocate for the rights and dignity of residents in long-term care facilities. They are the voice of the consumer and work to make the system responsive to individual needs and wishes. Volunteers investigate and resolve problems collegially until resident concerns have been resolved.
Responsibilities
- Visit residents in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and adult foster homes
- Listen to and address residents' concerns
- Resolve complaints and advocate for residents' rights
