Belt Technician

Responsibilities

• Install new conveyor belt
• Change out existing conveyor belt
• Repair or splice conveyor belt
• Change pulley lagging / changing of pulleys
• Maintain or change mechanical systems that transfer conveyor belt
• Follows instructions / leadership of Crew Leader or Project Manager
• Avoid any time consuming delays and hazard training
• Maintain equipment in proper working order
• Keep work areas clean and hazard-free
• Perform tasks according to Crew Leader/Project Manager’s instruction
• Inspect customer surroundings equipment to prevent costly repairs and damage

Requirements

• Knowledge of mining operations (surface and underground)
• Training and certifications as required by federal and state mine safety agencies
• Knowledge in the maintenance of conveyor belts including changing out, splicing, and vulcanizing
• Ability to read and understand splice diagrams and blueprints associated with conveyors
• Strong communication skills
• Thorough and attention to details
• Able to prioritize and multitask
• Proactive and deadline oriented
• 1 to 3 years of experience in conveyor belt maintenance preferred
• Up to 2 years of mining experience preferred
