About the role
The Belt Technician II is an experienced fabrication and installation technician with 3+ years of conveyor belt experience. This position is expected to perform shop and field work independently with minimal supervision while consistently producing high-quality workmanship. A Belt Technician II serves as a leader by example, helping train newer technicians, improving efficiency, and ensuring jobs are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of conveyor belting experience in fabrication, installation, or maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to complete jobs independently from start to finish.
- Strong understanding of conveyor systems, belt splicing methods, and fabrication techniques.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely lift 75+ pounds and perform physically demanding work.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime when required.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Technical Skills
- Perform conveyor belt fabrication, installation, repairs, and maintenance with little to no supervision.
- Complete mechanical splices, vulcanized splices, lagging, pulley work, and belt tracking adjustments.
- Read work orders, drawings, and customer specifications to ensure jobs are completed correctly the first time.
- Inspect completed work for quality before releasing it to customers or returning equipment to service.
- Troubleshoot conveyor system issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Operate shop equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
Leadership
- Begin leading small crews on routine jobs and assist in coordinating work assignments.
- Mentor and train Belt Technician I associates on proper techniques, safety, and best practices.
- Set the standard for workmanship, professionalism, and productivity.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, customers, and teammates regarding job progress and challenges.
- Help maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work environment.
Safety & Quality
- Follow all Applied Industrial Technologies safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Conduct work safely while promoting safe behaviors among teammates.
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards and customer expectations.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
