About the role

Southeast Missouri Residential Services is a State of Missouri facility located at 2351 Kanell Blvd, Poplar Bluff, MO. We offer a modern office setting, growth opportunities, and wellness programs. We are seeking a Behavioral Technician to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide positive behavioral support guided by basic behavioral principles for clients supported in a State Operated Crisis Program.
  • Treat consumers with dignity and respect.
  • Absorb and implement person-centered plans and behavior support plans for multiple individuals at once.
  • Train facility staff on behavioral interventions.
  • Respond to crisis situations at any hour of the shift.
  • Implement interventions to keep all individuals safe, including the use of physical restraint or personal protective equipment when needed.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and oral forms with other team members and actively participate in team meetings as needed.
  • Notify behavior professionals of any changes in behavior and signs of abuse or neglect.
  • Maintain appropriate professional and therapeutic boundaries with consumers and co-workers.
  • Lift and move consumers with physical disabilities for positioning, toileting, showering, transferring, etc. as needed.
  • Assist with transporting as needed.
  • Observe clients, collect data, and record behavior and interactions into behavioral tracking system for summarization and analysis.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for client care and treatment activities.
  • Accompany consumers to medical appointments, community outings, and other activities.
  • Participate in activities and outings with individuals supported.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Pass Level One Medication Aide Certification within one month of assignment.

Qualifications

  • One year of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).
  • Successfully complete Behavioral Support Training within three months of hire, or longer if training is not made available by facility.

Skills

  • First Aid, CPR, Safety Care, and Advanced Safety Care.

Schedule

Shift will be 7:00 pm - 7:00 am with rotating weekends off. Some mandatory overtime may be required to meet the needs of the facility.
