Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carries out implementation of ABA therapy as devised by BCBA and/or Coordinator.
  • Documents appropriately by maintaining client’s program book, daily session note, billing sheet, etc.
  • Manages materials, supplies and maintains a clean and safe instructional environment.
  • Effectively communicates with parent/caregiver, discusses progress or regression of goals as well as ways parents/caregivers can implement goals in the natural environment. Defers to BCBA when appropriate.
  • Requisitions equipment, supplies and requests for repair as delegated.
  • Collaborates frequently with BCBA, Ready Program Teachers, ST, OT, PT, and other disciplines regarding patient care.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and use of a variety of components of applied behavior analysis (ex. Antecedent behavior strategies, prompting, reinforcement of target behavior, DTT, etc.).
  • Demonstrates appropriate written, oral and nonverbal communication with students, families, other members of the health care team and the public.
  • Organizes learning environment to meet the unique needs of multiple students and effectively captures learners’ attention.
  • Knows departmental infection control procedures and follows universal precautions at all times.
  • Effectively takes data such as but not limited to: baseline data, in-treatment or progress data, and post-treatment data to measure the effectiveness of interventions conducted over a period of time.
  • Effectively initiates changes, adapts to necessary changes from old methods when they are no longer practical, identifies new methods and generates improvement in delivery of goals/programs/targets.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Education, Training and Experience

    • ABT coursework as part of the 40-hour training requirement for the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential within 90 days.
    • PREFERRED: Candidates currently pursuing a BA or MA degree, or already possess a BA degree, in a related field. Candidates whose studies have an emphasis on autism and/or applied behavior analysis.
    • PREFERRED: Experience working with children diagnosed with autism both in group setting and one-on-one.
    • Opportunities for professional growth are also available and highly encouraged.
    • PREFERRED: Candidates pursuing certification by the BACB. Candidates with a minimum of one (1) year of experience implementing ABA therapy. Training for this position is available on site.
    • Enjoy working with children who have been diagnosed with developmental disabilities
    • Strong communication and customer service skills
    • Proven creative abilities, strong organizational and time management skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Behavior Technician must make judgments in the following areas: client safety, client motivation, planning and organization.
