ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect data within the school environment.
- Aid in data-gathering for Functional Behavior Assessments.
- Aid in the development and implementation of behavioral programs, including behavioral support plans and behavioral intervention plans.
- Aid staff in techniques needed to implement behavioral systems.
- Aid in shaping and teaching appropriate behavior to students.
- Be available as needed by school staff.
- Perform specific assignments by assisting in the following areas:
- Material Preparation
- Preparing classroom charts, graphs.
- Constructing behavior management aids/tools.
- Clerical Support
- Collecting and recording data.
- Monitor data and share recommendations for intervention with appropriate staff.
- Monitor/supervise a student or small group of assigned students in need of specific behavioral intervention.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Education Development (GED) testing program.
- Four (4) years of experience working with behaviorally complex children.
- An earned associate degree or 60-degree credits from an accredited institution.
- Two (2) years of experience working with behaviorally complex children.
- Physical stamina and ability to work with behaviorally complex students and implement behavior management strategies as needed.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
TRAINING
- Attend training in Positive Behavioral Supports and De-escalation strategies within six (6) months of employment.
- Attend training in Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavioral Intervention Plans within six (6) months of employment.
- Behavior Technicians who require Professional Crisis Management (PCM) training, based on a student’s IEP, will be trained in collaboration with the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Department.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bilingual skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan.
- The length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
COMPENSATION
- Hourly Rate - $21.13 - $31.92 per hour.
- No Shift Differential (If applicable).
