Behavioral Support Assistant

The Role

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:

• Executing lower-level behavior interventions with students of concern, including check-ins and check-outs, student reflections and de-escalation;
• Helping progress monitor student behavior trackers;
• Conducting in-class push ins/pull outs to help with de-escalation and coping skills;
• Making sure students are safe in detention and in-school suspension;
• Performing discipline data entry;
• Aiding teachers in supervising students in all instructional settings;
• Aiding teachers in behavior management techniques by demonstrating, modeling, and positively reinforcing desired behaviors;
• Making sure students are safe during transition times throughout the school day, inside and outside of the classroom, including hallways, cafeteria, gym, and other areas where students are present;
• Making sure students are safe during in-school suspension;
• Holding students accountable to campus behavioral expectations and administering appropriate consequences;
• Additional duties as assigned.

MUST HAVES

• 0 – 2 years of experience working with students and student behavior;
• Experience working with children in an educational setting;
• Belief in and commitment to the mission and core value of YES Prep Public Schools;
• Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback;
• Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment;
• Demonstrated ability to work on a team;
• A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional.

NICE TO HAVES

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution, in a social science field.
