Behavioral Health Therapist - Outpatient Behavioral Health

About the role

The Behavioral Health Therapist provides intensive behavioral health services including diagnostic assessments, individual, group, and family-based psychotherapy, and crisis intervention as needed. Responsibilities include collaborating with patients and families to develop individualized treatment plans addressing identified areas of concern, assisting in understanding and managing symptoms and behaviors related to behavioral health diagnoses, and helping families address complex personal and environmental difficulties.

The role involves delivering clinical services to patients, their families, and significant others, working independently while remaining well-organized, and identifying opportunities for collaboration with other units or departments within the hospital. The therapist participates as a professional member of the interdisciplinary team and community agencies, provides education and consultation to healthcare professionals and the community regarding psychosocial factors, and models Dayton Children’s values through interactions with patients, families, and the treatment team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic assessments, individual, group, and family-based psychotherapy, and crisis intervention.
• Collaborate with patients and families to develop individualized treatment plans addressing specific concerns.
• Assist patients and families in managing symptoms and behaviors related to behavioral health diagnoses.
• Help families address complex personal and environmental difficulties affecting social functioning.
• Deliver clinical services to patients, families, and significant others.
• Work independently, stay organized, and collaborate with other hospital units or departments.
• Participate as a professional member of interdisciplinary teams and community agencies.
• Provide education and consultation on psychosocial factors to healthcare professionals and the community.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling required.
• One of the following certifications required:
  • LSW Ohio - Ohio Licensed Social Worker (Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage & Family Therapist Board).
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) (Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage & Family Therapist Board).
  • LPC - Licensed Professional Counselor (Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage & Family Therapist Board).

Schedule

Full time, 40 hours per week, day shift (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM) serving the Outpatient Behavioral Health department at the South Campus Behavioral Health Center.
