About the role

CRi is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality services to individuals with disabilities. We are excited to announce the opening of a new Forensic Mental Health program in our Richmond location. We are currently hiring Full Time and Part Time Overnight Behavioral Health Technicians and Behavioral Health Technician Assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and supervision to individuals with mental health disorders in a compassionate and therapeutic manner.
  • Implement and monitor treatment plans as outlined by the clinical team, ensuring individualized needs are met.
  • Employ de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to manage challenging behaviors.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to assess and address behavioral concerns, promoting a therapeutic and supportive environment.
  • Administer prescribed medications as per established protocols, ensuring accuracy and adherence to medication schedules.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individual's interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Report significant changes in resident's behavior, mental health status, or any incidents promptly to the supervisory team.
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals to implement evidence-based interventions and treatment modalities.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other team members as well as external providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to enhance professional development.
  • Implement safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure environment.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and crises, following established protocols and ensuring the safety of individuals and staff.

Requirements

  • Associate degree for Behavioral Health Technician (BHT).
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a BHT.
  • Previous experience in behavioral health, residential, or human services preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with an Associate degree preferred for Behavioral Health Technician Assistant (BHT-A).
  • Registered (or eligible for registration) with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a BHT-A per SB403 guidelines.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Strong communication, patience, and compassion for individuals with behavioral health needs.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting and assisting during interventions.
