About the Role
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, and in accordance with established policies, procedures, guidelines, and patient care plans, you will perform a variety of direct patient care activities for patients with addiction, behavioral problems, or mental health conditions. The role focuses on providing positive interactions and a safe environment to maximize patient wellbeing, while notifying management of any significant patient care issues.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to individuals with addiction, behavioral health issues, or mental illness.
- Create and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients.
- Interact with patients to provide comfort, empathy, encouragement, and support.
- Assess patients and gather relevant data to support patient care.
- Physically manage patients when necessary in a safe and therapeutic manner.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure quality, safe care.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Minimum of one-year college experience in Behavioral Health, Allied Health, Psychology, or a related field OR at least one year of Behavioral Health Technician experience or applicable experience (e.g., Emergency Medical Technician).
- Two or more years of experience as a Behavioral Health Technician in an inpatient psychiatric or addiction medicine setting preferred (requirement varies by location).
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients.
- Analytical skills to assess patients and gather relevant care data.
Certifications/Licensures
- Complete BLS Heartsaver Certification during orientation and maintain active certification.
- Complete WELLE training within the first three months of employment (location-specific) and maintain active certification.
