Behavioral Health Support Specialist- Night Shift Lead

Summary/Primary Purpose

The Night Lead provides direct care and shift leadership for adults experiencing mental health, substance use challenges, and homelessness. This role balances participant support with directing shift operations, ensuring services are delivered with empathy, dignity, and respect.

Responsibilities

• Promote skill development and assist with daily living activities
• Support therapeutic and social programming
• Maintain a safe, structured environment
• Deliver timely interventions and coordinate care
• Guide staff workflow and participant care
• Model professionalism, trauma-informed practice, and recovery-oriented philosophy
• Conduct hourly checks of the unit and participants’ whereabouts
• Prepare and monitor meals for participants
• Observe medications being taken by participants and complete appropriate documentation
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings
• Provide on-call coverage as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• One to two years related experience preferred
• Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
• Administrative skills including utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, attention to detail, and filing
• Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters and maintain appropriate professional boundaries
• Demonstrate sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics

On-Call Requirement

Staff hired will be responsible for on-call supervisor coverage for 1 week (Tuesday 10am-Tuesday 10am) on a monthly rotation.
