The Behavioral Health Specialist at Southside Medical Center plays a crucial role in providing direct patient care under the supervision of a designated healthcare professional.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures quality patient care
  • Measures vital signs
  • Maintains patient hygiene
  • Aids in patient mobility
  • Serves as a liaison between patients and nurses
  • Documents patient care accurately and promptly
  • Completes patient rounding and 15-minute checks
  • Supports unit-based specialty duties
  • Collects and completes patient screenings
  • Participates in ongoing education and in-service training

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree, related field (preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • State Tested Nursing Aide (STNA) (preferred)
  • Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) (preferred)
  • Registered Social Work Assistant (SWA) (preferred)
  • Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) (preferred)
  • Counselor in Training (preferred)
  • Human Services-Board Certified Practitioner (HS- BCP) (preferred)
  • American Association of Psychiatric Technicians (AAPT) (preferred)
  • 1 year of experience in a mental health or healthcare setting (preferred)

Qualifications
