About the role

The Behavioral Health (BH) Respite Care Provider in the BH Respite Program provides compassionate care and supervision to children and adolescents with diverse needs, including behavioral, emotional, and developmental challenges. This role focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for participants while accompanying them in a variety of respite activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a structured environment for youth to participate in scheduled Respite activities.
  • Encourage participation in scheduled respite activities.
  • Transport BH Respite clients to and from program activities.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children and adolescents in the program.
  • Facilitate structured activities such as arts and crafts, recreation, and life skills development.
  • Promote positive behavior and conflict resolution using effective strategies.
  • Maintain and complete accurate documentation for all youth in attendance for respite services.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, program staff, families, and service providers.
  • Keep all required trainings, certifications, and licensure current in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during treatment.
  • Handle all client-related documents in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Mental Health, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the Agency’s insurance underwriting criteria (preferred).
