Provides professional nursing care for assigned patients according to established standards and practices. The position requires a high quality of care in order to meet the Hospital's core mission.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from a state-accredited school (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
  • 1 or more years of nursing experience (Preferred)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current Georgia license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • If working on a designated stroke unit, Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) must be obtained within 2 years of hire

Responsibilities

  • Collects data in a systematic and ongoing process to identify issues and develop diagnoses based on assessment data.
  • Prioritizes data collection based on the patient's condition and needs.
  • Identifies expected outcomes and plans care based on diagnoses or issues.
  • Develops an individualized plan with strategies that address diagnoses and provides for continuity through a plan that directs other members of the team.
  • Implements the plan in a safe and timely manner, documenting implementation and any changes or omissions.
  • Consults with healthcare providers and makes referrals as appropriate, utilizing community resources to implement the plan.
  • Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to style and format.
  • Develops expected outcomes that provide direction for continuity of care, involving patient/family and other disciplines.
  • Evaluates the plan in relation to patient responses and expected outcomes, documenting results and modifying outcomes based on changes in assessment.
  • Uses the results of quality improvement activities in nursing practice and incorporates evidence-based knowledge to initiate change.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities and uses creativity and innovation to improve care delivery.
  • Accountable for individual practice and delegation to provide optimum care, practicing with compassion and respect.
  • Advocates for the patient, family, and community, ensuring patient safety through competency and growth of self and others.
  • Contributes to a healthy work environment through shared decision-making and collaborates with other health professionals to meet healthcare needs.
  • Directs the coordination of care across settings and among caregivers, engaging in teamwork as a team player and leader.
  • Promotes nursing through participation in professional organizations.
  • Adheres to hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
  • Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission, and vision of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility through self-education and ongoing educational programs.
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services, requirements, and competency evaluations on time.
  • Demonstrates competency in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
