General Purpose

The behavioral health program staff support position works independently, under general supervision, in support of the Behavioral Health Program (BHP) in the School of Social Work. The BHP comprises the Behavioral Health Expansion Program (BHEP), Public Behavioral Health (PBH), and Bilingual Bridges Behavioral Health (BBB) training program grants through the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) and CalSWEC at the California State University, San Jose. The program trains Master of Social Work students residing throughout 22 counties in the Northern California Superior Region who are committed to working in behavioral health after graduation. This position collaborates with the BHP grant team and supports the principal investigator, program coordinator, and practicum coordinator with various tasks related to the training program, including scheduling meetings, creating and collecting program documentation, coordinating off-campus activities, providing support for meetings on campus and throughout the region, and performing other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

  • General Clerical and Programmatic Support:
    • Provide clerical support for the MSW Behavioral Health grant programs, including tracking student information, such as forms, grades, attendance; responding to student inquiries; maintaining accurate inventory records; coordinating office supply orders; preparing and copying documents for training sessions; and providing daily support for program operations.
  • Creative Media:
    • Create and maintain creative media and communication materials to support program activities, including training flyers, monthly newsletters, promotional materials, and other program-related content as needed.
  • Collaborate with the program coordinator to identify, prepare, and submit requests for website updates to ensure program information remains accurate, current, and accessible.
  • Event Coordination:
    • Support the logistics of Behavioral Health Program events, including orientations, workshops, trainings, outreach activities, and recruitment events.
  • School of Social Work Office Support:
    • Provide office support to the School of Social Work, including greeting visitors, answering phones, attending staff meetings and all school meetings, and collaborating with the office team.

Employment Standards

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficiency in using standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, telephones, and other office technology.
  • Experience with office procedures and practices, including providing excellent customer service both in person and over the phone.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment with students, staff, and faculty, or in a similar professional setting.
  • Must be able to make occasional driving trips to pick up materials from other locations as needed.
